Progressive Lebanese Bloggers on The Present Conflict

Unfiled

Welcome to My Lebanese Dream:

We are ALL guilty. ALL OF US. Emergency hiwar watani session??? I am not sure if I should laugh or puke my guts out on the table. Let it be known to all. We are scared, our lives are on the line, our country is history, but it’s all our fault. Each and every one of us. These are the people we elected, these are the people we let freely thrive in their little haven of hatred and murderous ideals, and this is us, scared and incapacitated, failing but to point fingers and complain. Well let me tell you this folks, we pulled our pants down and stuck our naked asses out, and now that we’re fucked, we really don’t have jack shit to complain about.

[...]

To all those who sympathize with us, thank you for your kind thoughts whoever you are. But let me make one thing clear. Yes it is our fault for not being strong enough or united enough to establish the rule of law and spread the lebanese army on all lebanese territory. But there is no love lost between the lebanese people and the israeli leadership. We have been invaded, abused, bullied, and humiliated by israeli occupation forces for many years. Entire families were butchered by israeli artillery. And now this? do you seriously expect us to believe that leveling this country’s frail infrastructure is going to bring you your soldier and bring hizbollah to its knees? we might be weak and divided, but we’re not stupid. We are being punished, that is all. Punished twice, by our own ineptitude, and by your ruthless retaliation. Hizbollah is screwing us over, but so are you. Now do I still want peace with you? yes. Peace not alliance. Peace not friendship. Not because I can’t wait for us to hold hands, but because I can’t wait for Lebanon to be out of harm’s way. We’ve suffered enough, we’ve bled enough, we’ve built and rebuilt enough, and it’s time for us to take a break and just live. For a change.”

Beirut Notes:

This little and fat bearded geek Nasrallah has decided to wage an open war on Israel. This little dogmatic #### is a slave to the coward Bashar Assad who is a slave to the little bearded and thin Ahmadinejad who is a slave to the biggest #### of them all Khamanei.

These criminals have decided to fight Israel to the last Lebanese. These criminals have decided to wipe out the future of our children.

The Israelis are killing our children and mothers and Nasrallah wants to fight on. Who is he to decide to fight on? Who gave him the right to fight on?

We, the Lebanese people, have elected a parliament and a government and they decide our future not some ignorant cleric.

About Lebanon:

Dear Israeli Officials:

I am a young Lebanese who is pleading you to restrain your actions and stop punishing Lebanese civilians for actions beyond their control.

Please consider negotiating with the Lebanese government and Hezbollah.

Your use of force is outrageous and hurting not only Lebanon, but Israel and the prospect for peace in the region.

As a responsible and civilized country, you must stop! Your actions are engendering further anger, hatred, and resentment against Israel. The economic impact of your actions will be disastrous. A poor country is a country that breeds extremists. Please keep all of this in mind when making decisions.

We respectfully request that you end the suffering to our country and family. Violence only engenders violence. We all only want to live in peace.

Please be responsible, please do what is right.

Respectfully,

A concerned Lebanese citizen.

Beirut Spring:

Hezbollah, your strategy is foolish for two reasons.

First, it completely misreads the Israeli collective Psyche. When Nassrallah made a speech two days ago to the Israeli people, he sounded exactly like Bin Laden asking the Americans to vote out “George Bush the Crusader”. What was he thinking? Doesn’t he realize that the Israelis are very united around Olmert’s actions? Don’t forget that Israelis are much more united around Olmert than the Lebanese are around Hezbollah.

Second, only players of equal size can play chicken. A mini-cooper can’t race towards a roaring truck hoping to scare it away. Israel has the capacity to crush Lebanon, but Hezbollah is relatively just an annoying mosquito.

Nassrallah, listen to Seniora, Hand in your weapons and quit your gang-ho stupidity.

Please, ä÷á”ä, spare the innocent any greater suffering.

To all of the above commentators:

It saddens my heart to see the destruction being wreaked in your country by both the Israelis and Hezbollah. That said, it amazes me that the Lebanese don’t have the intestinal fortitude to help the Israelis rid your country of the crimminal element who doesn’t want peace in your world.

Why is it that the Lebanese army isn’t in contact with the Israelis, giving them the LOCATIONS AND COORDINATES of the Hezbollah installations and camps?? That is, of course, if you’re truly serious about ridding yourselves of them once and for all…..the Israelis are willing to do your dirty work, and the Lebanese aren’t lifting a finger to help?? What’s up with that? You want them gone or not?

A thinking person with no real agenda would look at that and say that the Lebanese are “crawfishin” because they really DO support Hezbollah, just not publicly, and they are no more interested in peace than Hezbollah or Hamas.

So which is it? Do ya’ll just want to whine and say the big, bad Israeli bullies are tearing up our playground!!! Or do you seriously want to rid yourselves once and for all of the Hezbollah monkies on your backs?

Methinks thou doth protest too much.

    “Hezbollah monkies”
why are enemies often given animal names like monkey? It’s a racist tendency I don’t appreciate.
