Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Responds to Lebanese Blogger

In response to Miami-based Lebanese blogger Maya’s letter (as “About Lebanon”), referenced below, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote:

Israel is not punishing Lebanese civilians, Hizbullah is holding Lebanon hostage. When Hizbullah, which is part of the Lebanese government, attacks Israel without provocation, killing its soldiers and holding them hostage, Hizbullah is committing an act of war on behalf of the Lebanese people, who must unfortunately suffer the consequences.

Don’t look at Israel to stop acting in self-defense against Hizbullah, but call upon your own government to fulfill its obligations under UN Security Council Resolution 1559 and disarm Hizbullah. Had the Lebanese government done so, we all would not be suffering now.
