EV slams Dror over Forward op-ed

Jewish

My friend, Dr. Uri Gordon, and I started writing a lengthy rebuttal to Yehezkiel Dror’s anger-inducing op-ed in The Forward calling for the shuttling of morality out the window in the face of threats real and imagined against the Jewish people. And perhaps we will finish it soon. In the meantime, Eli Valley has done a bang-up job with his response in Jewcy, which touches upon many of the points Uri and I raise in our piece, and which echoes several of the points made in my post on the Jewish identity panel at the President’s Conference last week. Check it out.

  1. Yehezkel Dror is already an unbelievable idiot. He’s the fellow who was on the Winograd commission, who publicly admitted (boasted!) that they had softened the commission’s judgements so that it wouldn’t force Olmert and Barak from power, just so that they could keep Netanyahu from becoming PM again.

That’s the equivalent of a US supreme court justice proudly boasting that they stopped the 2000 Florida recount so they could keep Gore from becoming President, regardless of truth, justice, or the law. To say it was grounds for impeachment would woefully understate things.

So if Dror then goes off and claims that Israel should abandon morals, that the ends justify the means, well, why shouldn’t we follow his lead? He’s already proven himself amoral!
