  1. Kamelia says:

Doesn’t he get it? He said it himself – even the most liberal left-wing Democrats (i.e. Harry Reid) are supporting Israel’s right to defend itself. So why is he so insistent on making Israel out to be the bad guys? I know, I know, Jon makes fun of everyone all the time, but I just really think this is going overboard. Especially when he is making himself seem like a terrorist sympathizer. I say the IDF lets Jon into Gaza to “interview” the Hamas “activists”. He may just find himself turned into a human shield. Then we’ll see what he has to say…

  2. Mobius says:

Somebody else take this one, please.

  3. Shir says:

“It’s the Mobius strip of issues, there’s only one side.” Mamash.

  4. Why should? And please stop acting with me as a troll just because I think different.

  5. “I guess it depends if I forced that guy to live in my hallway, and make him go through checkpoints every time he has to take a shit.”

Thank you, Mr. Stewart, for once again pointing out the obvious.

  6. B.BarNavi says:

He’s not making himself look like a “terrorist sympathizer”, you are putting the label on him. And did you just call for the death of a beloved comedian?

And Reid is by far NOT the most left-wing Democrat in the Senate. Stewart’s point was not that Israel was “the bad guys” here, but discussion in the American political sphere has rendered verboten any line that doesn’t completely absolve Israel of all culpability.

  7. Haviv says:

Jon’s not a “terrorist sympathizer,” he just accepts the Hamas version of events. “Forcing him to live in my hallway,” ridiculing without responding to the examples of Tijuana and Vancouver, starting with the Israeli invasion and glancingly mentioning a needless rocket campaign that drove the government to this action – he’s not evil, he’s just one-sided. And right now, he disagrees with the vast majority of Israelis. So what should we make of it?

Where is the questioning of, for example, why Hamas won’t allow medical supplies in through the Rafah border, where doctors and tons of supplies are waiting? Or a single mention of Hamas forces’ intentional basing in civilian areas? Or Zahar’s vow to murder Jewish children around the Diaspora in revenge?

Hamas’ whole strategy is predicated on sustaining the offensive in order to sustain the conflict in order to ultimately bring a violent Islamic redemption to Palestine. That’s not relevant? That’s what drove Israel’s Hemingway, Amos Oz, to support the initial assaults.

The dishonesty here comes when every time Stewart is called out on being politically shallow or one-sided he insists it’s just a comedy show. Really? Hamas and Israel both are investing immense resources in the media image of this conflict, where one of its most important victories will be won or lost. Stewart just took part, and he did it in a shallow, one-sided fashion. Knowingly.
