All in all, I’m thinking that when my contract’s up next month, that I should switch carriers and phones. In fact, unless someone starts delivering more than hype, I may give up on smartphones all together and go back to a straight flip phone.

Anyone got any recommendations?

I have a lot of thoughts to share but my laptop is in the shop and I don’t have the time to write from work. But I’ll do my best to get something together over the weekend.

FYI–For those landing here after Googling “Albert Hofmann Jewish,” I regret to inform you that Dr. Hofmann was not a Jew. He was a hero to many of us, nonetheless. His presence will be missed.

I too would’ve used Michelle Obama for “ladies is pimps too” line, but rather than showing Obama in a cowboy hat for the lines “niggas is crazy baby/don’t forget that boy,” I’d have used a clip of Geoff Davis (R-KY) wagging his finger. Syncing Obama dancing with Ellen, on the other hand, was a stroke of genius.

During this season of freedom, the people of Tibet are groaning — and the world hears their cries.

Since 1950, the Chinese military has brutally occupied Tibet. Hundreds of thousands have died. Thousands have been jailed, tortured, raped. Countless monasteries have been destroyed.

And now, as the Chinese Olympic torch is met with protests around the globe, we call on you to join the effort to shed light on Tibet’s suffering by extinguishing a torch of your own.

We call on all Jews to include an unlit candle on their Seder Tables this year. The candle symbolizes both the Olympic torch, whose light has been dimmed, and the unmet hopes of a people still living without freedom.

80 years to the day.

The case of Sacco and Vanzetti revealed, in its starkest terms, that the noble words inscribed above our courthouses, “Equal Justice Before the Law,” have always been a lie. Those two men, the fish peddler and the shoemaker, could not get justice in the American system, because justice is not meted out equally to the poor and the rich, the native born and the foreign born, the orthodox and the radical, the white and the person of color. And while injustice may play itself out today more subtly and in more intricate ways than it did in the crude circumstances of the Sacco and Vanzetti case, its essence remains.
